Robinson Scott in his studio.
I know that I am supposed to create, it is my purpose, my desire and life's pursuit. The fact that I choose glass to express my ideas and create with, has become part of my life's path. It could have been any material, but it is glass. As I have worked with this material over the last 30+ years, I have become less attached to the final result of the blowing process. |
The concept and idea for the finished piece is very important, but when I begin creating a piece of glass and participating in the process of blowing glass, my focus changes.
I become involved in a dance that defies an accurate description with words. The intense focus the glass process requires demands that I become part of that process to the point where it becomes instinctive. |
Great care is taken to properly "cook" the glass to assure clarity certain to accentuate the natural beauty glass possesses.
I have chosen to make most of the large glass working tools, furnace, glory hole and annealers. All can be purchased pre made, but I enjoy the challenge of working it out
on my own. |
